Wouldn't it be nice

Wouldn't it be nice if there were more cures in sight
for every kind of cancer that exists, everyday and every night.

More cures that are much easier than they are now,
a different type of chemo that doesn't destroy your body somehow.

No harsh side effects taking everything away,
no hair loss no mouth sores, no nausea day after day.
No diarrhea, no fatigue pulling life from your hands,
just something that helps you, just something that stands.

Just a pill like an antibiotic that makes us well again,
that takes away the pain and eases the strain.

It's hard to watch the suffering from every kind of cancer that exists,
from the very young to the old... through every twist.

Wouldn't it be nice if it didn't have to be this way,
if healing could come gently, and hope could stay.
If love could carry us through the darkest grey,
and bring a brighter kinder day.
